You may or may not know this...but my studio is located inside my home! It's been a work in progress for nearly 3 years. I originally started in what was a formal dining room. I quickly outgrew that and extended my space to include the formal living room as well (I mean c'mon... who really needs a formal living room anyway?!). These combined spaces served me well for 2 years but the more my husband and I talked it over the more we decided we would rather use those rooms as our main family living space and decided to move my studio into what was our family room. We really loved our family room - it was where we spent most of our time together and we had recently remodeled it so the decision to take over that space as my studio was somewhat bittersweet. Luckily my husband is just so supportive of my crazy ideas and just goes with the flow (building, remodeling, painting, making holes in walls, filling holes in walls along the way!). So over the winter we focused on swapping these rooms and it was quite a process but now, I am finally all settled in! So take a look...
This is the client area (during sessions the blinds are closed and all lights are turned off to avoid contaminating my studio light).
Below is my workspace and it's one of my favorite places! My handy husband built me that desk and it's exactly what I asked for. I love that I can look out the window while I'm working (such a change from the corporate world I was in!).
I have a variety of tiny hats, outfits and other itty bitty props to use during sessions. Most of these are for newborns but I do have a small collection of adorable sitter rompers available.
'I have way too many newborn wraps' – Said no photographer ever.
Some more images of my workspace since I am just so in love with it. (YAY for natural light!!)
This wood-burning fireplace has been out of commission for several years so naturally it's been taken over by my props - chairs, stools, crates, etc. However, my son keeps reminding me that we better move everything before Christmas otherwise Santa will not be able to get in. I also have plenty of tiebacks available for use during your session.
And yet more props... I have a large selection of blankets, furs, basket stuffers and other fabrics.
And finally, this is the area with my backdrops where I do most of the shooting.
Well that about sums it up! I hope you enjoyed my studio tour!...If you have any questions please ask!
