In case you haven't heard my big news... I finally have an actual studio... like OUTSIDE my home! GAAHHH! I am so excited to show you! Here's a little history for ya... I opened my business 4 years ago this month and since then I've been shooting out of a studio space located within my home. It started out in our formal dining room, then and expanded into our formal living room. After a couple of years in there we decided we wanted that space back so I moved into our family room. Having clients in an out of the home has not been ideal for our family but we made it work. As the kids got older it became more challenging. We agreed it was time to start looking for other options. This space became available and it's less than a mile away from my home. It seriously seemed meant to be! We looked at it immediately and honestly, we were less than impressed. It needed a lot of work. Like A LOT. ('before' pics are posted at the end). I almost didn't pursue it any further. But the fact that it has a storefront on a busy street less than a mile from my home was actually a no-brainer. And now that I'm in the space and have my home back I one hundred percent feel it was the right decision! Here's a little tour... This is my store font which I ended up hiring someone to paint and I'm so glad I did.. what a difference it has made! This is my client seating area. I'm hoping to get a coffee maker and mini fridge in there soon. This is also where reveal appointments happen. Here is a view of my prop wall, front door and newborn shooting area. I just love the big windows letting all the natural light in. This window faces north so it's always bright but I never have to worry about harsh sunlight! It's just perfect. Another view of my prop wall. My husband was instrumental in making this happen. I thought I wanted an IKEA system... drove all the way down there to purchase it and found out that half of the items I needed were out of stock. My husband helped me come up with this idea and he made it happen. He's pretty amazing! A close up of my props... You'll notice a lot of whites and neutrals which give me all the feels. I had to downsize and decided to only keep and use what I love. Ok as promised here are some cell pics of what this space looked like when we first looked at it. Those walls. I think we needed 4 coats to cover all that. There you have it! It's small... but it's mine and I love it! <3 <3
